Sonic Twister is an interactive listening game. Players trigger samples of field recordings upon each move of their hands or feet, sound is amplified and the game culminates to create a new composition.

Sonic Twister is a listening game based upon the basic principles of Twister. Players trigger samples of field recordings upon each move of their hands or feet, under each dot a manipulated field recording or sample of sound is amplified and the game culminates to create a new composition.

The concept is currently being developed through testing with small user groups of all walks of life to inform workshops and group activities that can be formulated to further explore the principles of sound, the act of listening and for more advanced groups, the fundamentals of programming.

Sonic Twister gives access to sound using touch, allows players of all abilities to interact and engage with composition and offers a unique opportunity for young people to enjoy their first experiences of capturing their own field recordings and programming them on to the board.

Thanks to Rebecca Waters and Tim Faulkner of Distil This for programming and construction, Philip Goulding for electronics and programming.
